There’s a monumental 5.7 MW solar project on the horizon in Pennsville, New Jersey, which is sure to stir up the solar industry.
Standard Solar is leading the charge in partnership with Trinasolar Development Solutions. Many solar companies, including these two, recognize the vast potential of sun power, and they are continuously exploring innovative ways to tap into it. However, what sets this particular project apart is its location: a landfill.
Now, the terms “landfill” and “solar array for homes” might sound incompatible. However, in fact, this project symbolizes a remarkable transformation in the clean energy landscape. Converting unusable land into thriving hubs of solar energy generation not only solves spatial issues but also breathes new life into otherwise neglected areas. As John Finnerty, Director of Business Development for Standard Solar, rightly stated, it’s an opportunity to revitalize areas bearing the brunt of environmental pollution and redefine them as clean energy pioneers.
This groundbreaking project, which sets itself under the community solar bill signed by New Jersey Governor Murphy last year, emphasizes inclusivity. It aims to empower low to moderate-income subscribers with access to clean and affordable solar energy. Construction is anticipated to begin within the next couple of years, and we can expect the operation to be fully functional by late 2025.
