Hello Solar Seekers,
In today’s blog post, I’m back with new insights that will fuel your knowledge about the booming solar industry. Given the ever-evolving realm of solar technologies, progressive strides in market trends, and shifting global paradigms, there’s always something new to learn and explore in solar. So, without further delay, let’s dive into everything that’s making rounds in the solar marketplace.
The recent RE+ 2024 conference, the largest energy conference in North America, unfolded with unshakeable gusto despite a 4.9 earthquake that hit Anaheim on the last day. Energy professionals, solar companies, and lovers of solar joined forces to unravel the future avenues of the solar landscape and strengthen the solar revolution.
A concrete testament to the robust growth of solar is the latest World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2024. As per the report, the world now sustains five times more Photovoltaic (PV) power than nuclear. With a mere 408 functional reactors, producing 367 GW mid-year, the nuclear industry lags behind the solar industry’s impressive installed capacity predictions.
This scenario positions solar companies at the forefront of the energy revolution, offering promising opportunities for those looking to harness solar panels for their home. By installing a home solar array, not only can you contribute to the green revolution, but you’ll also save on both cost and energy. The good news doesn’t stop there; the average solar prices for home are hovering near an all-time low of $2.69 per watt.
What’s more fascinating about the solar scenario is the potential of Firebrick heat storage technology. A Stanford University study elucidates that by 2050, firebrick thermal energy storage, rather than batteries, could reach the capacity of 170 GW in the U.S. – marking a significant shift in energy storage mechanisms.
However, amidst all the achievements and breakthroughs, the solar industry had to bid adieu to SunPower, one of its oldest and most influential solar companies. The company succumbed to rising interest rates and cash generation problems, depicting the challenges residential solar installers face in the US.
These are, indeed, interesting times for the solar industry. Stay tuned to my blog as I bring you more updates, tips, and discussions about harnessing solar power. Until next time, keep the solar lights shining bright!
Best,
