Central Coast Community Energy (3CE), a major player in shaping the renewable landscape, has broadcasted a Request For Proposals (RFP) seeking to procure both renewable energy and storage projects. This is a golden opportunity for solar companies and enthusiasts watching the market.
Why, you ask? Let’s dive right in.
Ever since its establishment in 2017, 3CE has gradually grown in stature and now caters to over 436,000 customers in areas like Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Luis Obispo. Having a consumer base this vast brings in the potential for a vast number of solar panels for homes, promoting a greener and more sustainable future.
But how does this tie in with 3CE’s recent announcement? What exactly does this mean for enthusiasts tracking solar companies, or for homeowners yearning for solar panels in their backyards?
The key is in the type of projects 3CE is on the lookout for. They’re targeting new or pre-existing clean energy and storage projects that are set for operation by December 2032. Moreover, these projects have to offer at least 20MW of capacity, falling into one of three categories:
